Position Overview:
The Client Marketing Senior Associate is responsible for developing the client-facing material required to retain current clients and acquire new ones. The position will ensure that Root Capital’s communication with clients ultimately lowers risk, increases Loan Officer capacity, and improves client satisfaction such that Root Capital can compete with lower-cost lenders through a premium-level service offering. The Senior Associate will deploy the Marketing Team’s strategy by listening to clients and Root Capital team members and developing content to meet their needs for improved customer service. After Root Capital’s immediate client retention needs from the Marketing function have been satisfied, the role will evolve to develop content aimed at client acquisition (including, but not limited to: blogs, presentations, etc.).

Root Capital is a nonprofit social investment fund whose mission is to grow rural prosperity in poor, environmentally vulnerable places in Africa, Latin America, and Asia by lending capital, delivering financial training and strengthening market connections for small and growing agricultural businesses. Root Capital clients include associations and private businesses that help create sustainable livelihoods by aggregating the products of hundreds, and often thousands, of farmers. Responsibilities:
Content Development (70%)
The Client Marketing Senior Associate will be the project manager and primary content creator (writer) for the development of all client-facing material produced at Root Capital. They will manage Root Capital’s Client Touchpoint Catalog and develop its contents, which may include:
- Email content – letters or policy updates addressed from Root Capital or specific team members.
- Portal and Web content – instructions, process diagrams, reminders, client profiles/testimonials, video storyboards/scripts, and/or educational material.
- Publications – brochures, blog posts, campaign material, presentations.
- Talking Points – communication points for verbal communication to client by Loan Officer.
Project Management (30%)
As a project manager for the above, the Senior Associate will:
- Develop project plans and engage key stakeholders for input, feedback, and approval.
- Identify additional client and staff needs to add to the Catalog.
- Plan and launch client-facing communications from the Catalog using Sales and Marketing. and CRM cloud software (Hubspot, Salesforce, and others).
- Test and iterate on materials through Voice of the Customer Initiative.
- Coordinate our work with designers, videographers, and other vendors.
Education/Experience:
- BA or equivalent required in Marketing and/or Finance.
- Minimum 3 years work experience creating marketing content/copy. Preferred experience in rural or agricultural finance, B2B financial services, or a related field.
- Experience in customer experience design paired with strong writing skills.
- Financial analyst looking for a more creative way to deploy their financial literacy (when paired with proven writing skills).
Required Skills and Experience:
- Excellent written communication skills in both Spanish and English; ability to adapt tone and style for audience or purpose of publication (native-level Spanish and high degree of fluency in English).
- Strong oral communication skills in both English and Spanish (native-level Spanish and fluency in English preferred).
- Detail orientation, with the ability to produce high-quality materials for both internal and external distribution (review and provide insightful feedback on content and visual design).
- Ability to think critically and to integrate diverse stakeholder needs, perspectives, and feedback into creative solutions; proven orientation toward client service.
- Ability to work within a team, prioritizing activities by consensus and developing a common vision of success.
- Flexibility in discarding old ideas as new business needs arise.
- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple, diverse tasks, carrying work through to completion.
- Willingness and patience to work with remote team members across technological, language, and geographical challenges.
- Ability to master cloud software systems, including: Customer Relationship Management software (Salesforce), Marketing & Sales software (Hubspot), and standard Root Capital cloud platforms.
- Preferred: Familiarity with financial terminology and products/services (will also accept willingness and ability to develop a foundational knowledge quickly).
- Willingness to travel internationally to remote areas for 3-6 weeks per year.
